The RiA staff is a multidisciplinary team of elevator inspection specialists, project managers, administrators, engineers, expert witnesses, and high-level strategists who are experts in dealing with elevator contractors and managing large portfolios.
Talented individuals on the team come from backgrounds that cover multiple engineering registrations, elevator safety code committee memberships, experienced elevator installers, and provincial safety inspectors.
An experienced member of the RiA team with a career spanning 40 years in the elevator industry. His experience includes working with a number of companies, most notably Otis and Schindler Elevator. A registered Class A elevator mechanic, he has spent the past 20 years of his career as an elevator troubleshooter and mechanic supervisor. Dave also gives back to the industry by sharing his extensive knowledge with apprentice mechanics as a course instructor.
Yet another highly experienced member of the RiA team with over 43 years in the elevator industry. He has worked with a number of companies, including Otis, KONE, and ThyssenKrupp (Dover), and is a registered Class A elevator mechanic in New Brunswick and Nova Scotia. Glen has spent the last two decades working with the New Brunswick Elevator Union as a labour representative on top of his work as an elevator troubleshooter and a mechanic supervisor.
A multitalented professional, she first joined the RiA team in 2007, and has since become indispensable as a skilled communicator, connecting clients, stakeholders, and RiA team members. She maintains an excellent rapport with clients and practices superb organization while adeptly managing complex projects.
Holds an EDM-T certification, a bachelor’s degree, and has achieved a Project Management Professional (PMP) certification. Kristy is a driven and effective project manager with a keen ability to multitask and focus under pressure. She has previously managed projects for KONE Elevator and Regional Elevator.
Iris A., MASc
Marius is an electrical engineer and registered Elevating Device Mechanic (Class F: EDM-F) with over 20 years’ experience in the vertical transportation industry. He has worked on the design, installation, commissioning, troubleshooting, maintenance, and consulting of various elevating devices. Marius is an experienced project manager able to coordinate multiple projects at the same time. His work has encompassed elevating devices in some of Canada’s most prestigious buildings, including Scotia Plaza (Toronto), Trump International Hotel and Tower (Toronto), and Sun Life Plaza (Calgary).
Ian holds an Elevator Device Mechanic license EDM-T in the province of Ontario and Professional Engineering designations in both Ontario and British Columbia. Ian has over 10 years of consulting experience in both the elevator and construction industries. His project management and consulting experience includes fire alarm replacements and upgrades, chiller replacements, LED lighting upgrades, and other retrofits in industrial, commercial, and residential sectors.

RiA is registered as a professional engineering firm in multiple provinces. As well, we are a registered consultant with the Technical Standards and Safety Authority (TSSA). We hold further membership, either corporate or personal, with the following organizations:

We are one of Canada’s most experienced elevator consulting firms, and in terms of staff size and business volume, one of the largest firms. Our offices in Vancouver, Toronto, Ottawa, and Saint John enable us to serve clients on a national basis and provide the resources and experience of eight consultants with varied backgrounds, including professional engineers, elevator mechanics, equipment installers, and provincial safety inspectors.
Through the inspection of over 1,000 elevating units annually across Canada, we have considerable experience and knowledge of elevator issues and their relevance to building owners’ operational and financial interests.
