Other Consultants

The RIA staff is a multi-disciplinary team of elevator inspection specialists, project managers, administrators, engineers, expert witnesses and high-level strategists, who are experts in dealing with elevator contractors and managing large portfolios.

Talented individuals on the team come from backgrounds that cover multiple engineering registrations, elevator safety code committee memberships, experienced elevator installers, and provincial safety inspectors.

Rob M., P. Eng., CEI

An experienced Certified Elevator Inspector as well as a licensed engineer in Alberta and British Columbia. He is a skilled project manager, adept at performing reviews, maintenance audits and cost control, with a background in the oil and gas industry. Rob has been part of the RIA team since 2008.

 

Dave G.

An experienced member of the RIA team, with a career spanning 40 years in the elevator industry. His experience includes working with a number of companies, most notably Otis and Schindler Elevator. A registered Class A elevator mechanic, he has spent the past 20 years of his career as an elevator trouble-shooter and mechanic supervisor. Dave also gives back to the industry by sharing his extensive knowledge with apprentice mechanics as a course instructor.

 

Glen J.

Yet another highly experienced member of the RiA team, with over 43 years in the elevator industry. He has worked with a number of companies including Otis, Kone and ThyssenKrupp (Dover) and is a registered Class A elevator mechanic in New Brunswick and Nova Scotia. Glen has spent the last two decades working with the New Brunswick Elevator Union as a labour representative on top of his work as an elevator trouble-shooter and a mechanic supervisor.

 

Angela N.P.

Multi-talented professional. She first joined the RiA team eight years ago, and since then has become indispensable as a skilled communicator, connecting clients, stakeholders, and RiA team members. She maintains an excellent rapport with clients, and practices superb organization while adeptly managing complex projects.

 

Alex L.

Joined the RIA team in 2010. He holds an Elevator Device Mechanic in Training (EDM-T) certificate in the province of Ontario. Since joining the team, Alex has gained significant experience in site, preliminary drawing, and log book reviews, as well as performing condition assessments and maintenance audits on elevating equipment.

 

Jennifer B.

Brought her talents to the RIA team in 2013. Over the course of her 18 year career, she has become accomplished at administration and business development, mastering process improvement methodologies, and CRM processes. She keeps clients and colleagues happy through her diligent attention to detail and strong delivery ahead of deadlines. Jennifer is a current member of the Project Management Institute and the PMI Ottawa Valley Outaouais Chapter. She is currently working on her CAPM and PMP certification.

 

Kristy M.

Holds an EDM-T certification, a bachelor’s degree, and  has achieved a Project Management Professional (PMP) certification. Kristy is a driven and effective project manager with a keen ability to multitask and focus under pressure. She has previously managed projects for Kone Elevator and Regional Elevator.

Iris A., M.A.Sc.

Has been employed with the firm since 1998 in the role of computer systems consultant.  Iris’ previous computer experience was gained through IBM as a Systems Engineer.  Iris holds the distinction of being the first woman to graduate with a Masters Degree from the Robotics group, Mechanical Engineering, University of Toronto.

Raj R.

Raj R. , is an Elevating Devices Mechanic – Class A (EDM-A) and a Qualified Elevator Inspector (QEI) with experience covering all aspects of the elevator industry – new elevator installation, maintenance and troubleshooting. Raj is a graduate from Durham College where he studied elevator technology. Additionally Raj has achieved the requirements to act as an Instructor to apprentice elevator mechanics.

The 35-year continuing success of our firm is based on our dual corporate philosophies:

RIA is registered as a professional engineering firm in multiple provinces. As well, we are a registered consultant with the Technical Standards and Safety Authority (TSSA). We hold further membership, either corporate or personal, with the following organizations:

  • National Association of Elevator Safety Authorities (NAESA);
  • CSA Elevator Safety Code Technical Committee (CSA B44);
  • Ontario Society of Professional Engineers (OSPE);
  • Staff registered as Professional Engineers in BC, Alberta, Ontario, Nova Scotia, New Brunswick and Newfoundland.
